Church & Ministry Use

Using Go Fish Music & Videos in Your Church

You bought it. We made it for exactly this. Here's the plain-English version of what you can do — and the few things to keep in mind.

Here's our heart on this: we want our songs and videos in front of as many kids as possible. Unlike the big publishers, we don't nickel-and-dime churches with new licenses every year. When your church buys or streams Go Fish music and videos, we want you to press play — in your services, your classrooms, your VBS, your family nights. This page tells you how, keeps you out of any copyright trouble, and points out the couple of spots where a quick heads-up (or a different license) matters.

Go for it — no permission needed

You're free to do all of this with Go Fish music and videos, at no extra cost, as long as your church has purchased or is streaming them legitimately.

  • Play our recorded songs during your worship services, kids' church, Sunday school, and midweek programs.
  • Use our music and videos throughout your VBS, Advent, and Easter programs — including on the big screen.
  • Show our music videos and lyric videos on your screens for in-person gatherings, camps, and church events.
  • Teach the motions, lead the songs live, and let your kids and leaders sing along.
  • Use the songs in classrooms, nurseries, hallways, and family events at your church.
  • Loop our music as walk-in or transition music before and after your programs.

One quick favor that keeps prices low

This is the single most helpful thing you can do for us.

Our songs are registered with CCLI. If your church has a CCLI license, please report the Go Fish songs you use when you fill out your usage reports. It takes a minute, it's already part of what your CCLI license is for, and it's what lets us keep making high-quality resources and offering them at a fraction of what the big publishers charge. You reporting our songs is a big part of how we're able to do things differently.

A few things to keep in mind

None of this is meant to be fussy — it just protects the work so we can keep it affordable for everyone.

  • Streaming your services online? The right to play our recordings and videos inside your normal live-streamed service is included — go ahead. Just make sure your church also carries a CCLI Streaming License (or equivalent), which is what covers displaying song lyrics on your stream. The in-person copyright exemption churches rely on does not extend to online streaming, so this license matters.
  • Please don't re-upload our full songs or videos to your church's public YouTube, social media, or website as standalone content. Link to our official channels instead — that keeps the plays (and the credit) flowing where they belong.
  • Keep our name on it. Don't remove the Go Fish name, credits, or logo, and please don't edit our recordings or videos into new products, remixes, or mashups without asking us first.
  • These files are for your church, not for reselling or sharing. Don't copy, sell, or pass along the downloaded files to other churches or organizations. If a neighboring church loves what you're doing, send them our way — we'll take great care of them.
  • Paid events and concerts: Using our music for a ticketed concert, fundraiser, or event outside your regular ministry programming? Just shoot us a note first so we can bless it properly.

A few songs we recorded but didn't write

These specific titles work a little differently — please read this part.

Over the years we've recorded some beloved worship songs that we didn't write and don't own the songwriting to. We own our recordings of them, but the songs themselves belong to other writers and publishers, so the blanket permissions on this page — especially anything involving streaming online or reproducing lyrics — don't apply to these titles. They are:

  • Shackles (Praise You)
  • Lord, I Lift Your Name On High
  • All Of My Heart
  • I'll Fly Away

Here's the simple version: you can still play our recordings of these songs in your in-person services and programs just like any other worship song. But for anything beyond that — displaying the lyrics, streaming them online, or reproducing them — please rely on your church's own CCLI license, which covers these well-known titles, and report them to CCLI under their original writers. We just can't hand out permission for songs that aren't ours to give away.

Homeschool & families

The same generous spirit applies at home.

If you're a homeschool family or a co-op, everything above applies to you too. Play our music, show our videos, and use our curriculum with your own kids and your co-op group freely. Just like with churches, please don't redistribute or resell the files, and don't post our full songs or videos publicly as your own. Beyond that — enjoy every bit of it.

Quick answers

Do we need to pay a licensing fee to play Go Fish music in our services?

No. Once you've purchased or are legitimately streaming our music, playing it in your in-person church programs is included. We just ask that CCLI-licensed churches report our songs.

Can we show a Go Fish music video on our screens during VBS?

Yes — showing our videos on your screens for in-person gatherings and VBS is exactly what they're for.

Can we put our whole VBS closing program (with your songs) on Facebook?

A live-streamed program is fine as long as you carry a CCLI Streaming License for the lyrics. Just don't post our full recordings or videos as separate, standalone uploads on your public channels.

We're a small church on a tight budget. Is there a catch?

No catch. That's kind of the whole point of Go Fish — we think great gospel resources for kids shouldn't cost a fortune or require a new license every single year.

Got a use we didn't cover?

If you're dreaming up something bigger — a special event, a regional gathering, a creative project with our music — we'd love to hear about it and help you make it happen.
